Why fabric and not paper

In an interior diorama the floor tends to be a large empty area, and a carpet is the quickest way of settling it. A pattern printed on real cloth has two advantages over paper: the surface carries a fine texture of its own and the edge can be frayed or folded in a way paper would never manage.

What the set contains

The package consists of fabric with carpets printed on it reduced to 1:35 scale. This is the third number of the range, so the motifs differ from the previous variants and can be combined in one scene, so that every room gets a piece of its own.

Building tips

• Cut the carpet out with sharp scissors a few tenths of a millimeter beyond the edge of the pattern.
• You will get fringes by pulling a few threads out of the edge with tweezers.
• Attach the cloth with a thin white glue spread over the floor of the setting.
• Fix a folded corner or a wave by weighting it down until the glue has dried.
• Suggest dust and rubbing with a dry pigment applied with a soft brush.

Who it is for

The material suits living rooms, offices and more affluent interiors in 1:35 scale, and will also serve in a display case corner where the floor is seen from close up. Working with it calls for no particular experience; scissors, tweezers and a little patience while cutting out are enough. The package contains only the printed fabric. The setting, furniture, figures, glue and paints are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
