Luggage in the hands of civilians is among the strongest narrative devices of a diorama. A handbag set down on a station bench, pressed to the body while fleeing or dropped on the pavement gives a scene an urgency that a vehicle on its own will never create. By such a detail a viewer asks, half consciously, whom the object belonged to.
The package contains ten handbags in 1:35 scale. The number of pieces allows a whole group of figures to be equipped and several items of luggage to be left lying loose in the scene.
Carry the small parts with tweezers and fix them with a negligible drop of glue; the excess is squeezed out under the part and, once dry, is removed only with difficulty. Before painting, wash the surface in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry; the paint then holds substantially better. It pays to give the ten pieces different shades, so that no two figures carry the same one; brown leather, black, dark burgundy and one light piece are amply enough for a scene. A final fine wash will bring out the breakdown of the surface and the object will stop looking like a smooth drop.
The set is intended for builders of dioramas with a civilian element, that is a railway station, a market, an evacuation or a column of refugees, and for everyone who is completing figures with small things in the right scale. Figures, a model, paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
