The real subject

The Barrett M107A1 is an American large-caliber self-loading rifle, that is a weapon intended rather against equipment and against targets at long range than against an individual at close quarters. You will recognize it by the long barrel with its pronounced muzzle brake, by the massive receiver section and by the bipod at the front. In the equipment of present-day units it is seen where long distances are reckoned with, so it suits figures and kit stowed in modern vehicles alike.

What the set contains

According to the name there are four pieces of the weapon in the package in 1:35 scale, produced by 3D printing. With a part this small, printing manages sharper edges and finer profiles than a larger production run, and that shows precisely on the muzzle brake and on the bipod. Four pieces are enough to equip a smaller group of figures, or to leave one piece in reserve in case a small part is damaged during work.

Building and painting tips

Parts from 3D printing are held on thin print supports. Cut these off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the edges are not damaged. Before painting, wash off the residue of printing material and degrease the surface, or the paint will hold badly. These are not parts of polystyrene, so cement for plastic models has no effect on them; they are bonded with super glue. A weapon tends to be darker than the surroundings it lies on; a fine bringing out of the edges with a dry brush will give it in 1:35 scale a shape that would otherwise be lost.
