An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet space Vostok launch vehicle with the crewed Vostok-1 spacecraft, in 1:144 scale from the Russian brand Zvezda. The package includes parts for the whole launch-vehicle assembly and the spacecraft, plus a stand for displaying the finished model. It commemorates the first crewed spaceflight in history.
The Vostok launch vehicle was derived from the Soviet R-7 intercontinental missile and was among the first launch vehicles of human spaceflight. Its hallmark is a cluster of five engine blocks — a central stage surrounded by four jettisonable side boosters. On April 12, 1961, the Vostok-1 spacecraft carried Yuri Gagarin into orbit as the first human in space; the flight lasted just under two hours and marked the beginning of crewed spaceflight.
Glue the plastic parts with thin liquid plastic cement; attach the fine, small parts carefully so glue does not swamp the detail. Apply a primer before painting and spray the paint with an airbrush in thin coats — fine coats preserve small surface details better than a heavy one. Take care to keep the stages and blocks cleanly separated. Place the finished model on the included stand.
