Pz.Kpfw III and IV tracks, type 3b, in 1:16 scale from PANZER ART. A resin accessory for large-scale models of the German medium tanks.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of tracks in resin for models of the German Pz.Kpfw III and Pz.Kpfw IV tanks in 1:16 scale. It is not a model of the tank but an accessory for the modeler who cares that the running gear matches a particular machine. The type designation in the name refers to one of the production forms of the track, and the ability to choose the type is precisely the main reason these sets are bought.
The Pz.Kpfw III and the Pz.Kpfw IV shared a large part of their running gear, so tracks of the same family were used for them. During the war their form went through a series of changes: the shape of the link, the arrangement of the holes and the treatment of the traction features all changed, because production was being simplified and at the same time responded to experience in the field. For the modeler a simple rule follows from this: before you fit the set, compare the type of track with a photograph of the machine you are building. The wrong type on an otherwise nicely built model is one of the mistakes an expert notices at once.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, remove the casting blocks and level the surfaces; protect your breathing while sanding resin. Assemble in longer runs and test them dry on the running gear as you go, so that the final length fits the spacing of the drive sprocket and the idler. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). After the primer, choose a dark steel or brownish base; bring out the edges with a metallic pigment, let a dark wash into the recesses and dust the bottom of the running gear with pigments according to the terrain you set the model in.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
