The M-ATV is an American armored vehicle of the MRAP category, that is, a machine built above all against mines and improvised explosive devices. The bottom of its hull is V-shaped, which deflects the blast wave to the sides instead of letting it pass through to the crew. Compared with the older and more unwieldy vehicles of this class, the M-ATV went for lower weight, smaller dimensions and better mobility over rough ground so that it could be used in the mountains and off made roads as well. On the roof there is usually a weapon station, additional panels cover the sides and the windows are small and thick.
This is a kit to be assembled and painted in 1:16 scale. The finished model comes out about forty centimeters long and about fifteen wide, so it takes up a fair amount of space in a display case while offering plenty of room for careful work. The number of parts, the contents of the package and the marking options on offer are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Try the parts dry before gluing; in a large scale every inaccuracy adds up. Use cement intended for plastic models and apply it sparingly. Finish and paint the interior and the chassis parts before you close the assembly up, because you will not reach them later. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Stick the masking tape down before spraying and take it off as soon as the paint becomes tacky. A uniform desert shade looks dead over a large area; restrained edge highlighting and settled dust around the lower parts will help.
Collectors of contemporary military equipment will appreciate the model, as will modelers who want a large kit with plenty of room for detail. Paints, thinner, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
