Aber 1:200 turned metal barrels are a set of 20 barrels for the 40 mm Bofors Mk.1 for US Navy ship models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory set of 20 turned metal barrels from the Polish maker Aber in 1:200 scale. It is not a kit but a detail set that replaces the coarse plastic barrels of the 40 mm Bofors Mk.1 anti-aircraft guns. Turned barrels have an accurate profile and a clean muzzle, which raises the fidelity of the armament on ship models considerably.
The 40 mm Bofors automatic guns were the main close-in anti-aircraft defense of American warships during the Second World War. They were fitted in twin and quadruple mounts and their slender barrels are a conspicuous detail of the deck armament.
Separate the barrels carefully and clean up the ends. Cut the original plastic barrels off and replace them with the metal parts, glued in with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before painting and apply a primer suitable for metal so that the paint holds. Small barrels are easier to paint before they are fitted to the model.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
