Trumpeter German battleship Scharnhorst 1:200 is a large injection-molded plastic kit of one of the best-known surface ships of the Kriegsmarine.
Responsibility details are not available.
A large-format injection-molded plastic kit from Trumpeter in 1:200 scale. The model depicts the German battleship Scharnhorst, and thanks to the large scale it reaches over one meter in length once assembled. It is done as a full hull including the underwater part, so the ship can be built as a complete replica on the supplied stand. In the package you will find a finely shaped hull, superstructures, turrets of the main and secondary armament, photo-etched metal parts and a pair of Arado Ar 196 shipboard floatplanes.
The Scharnhorst was the lead ship of the class of the same name and, together with her sister ship Gneisenau, belonged to the fast battleships of the Kriegsmarine in the Second World War. She carried a main armament of nine 28 cm guns in three triple turrets, reached a high speed and became famous for operations in the Atlantic and in northern waters. She was sunk in December 1943 in the Battle of North Cape.
Build this large model step by step in subassemblies (hull, decks, superstructures, armament) and check the fit as you go. Bend the photo-etched parts on a folding tool and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); join the plastic parts with liquid cement for plastic. Apply a primer before painting; the decks and the hull reward an airbrush, washes and drybrushing to bring the detail out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
