Equipment for a modern combat aircraft in a large scale. Without faithful external munitions even a carefully built machine stays half empty, and it is exactly this gap that the set fills. The carrying model is not part of the delivery.

Where the munition comes from

The AASM came about in France as a modular weapon for precise attacks from beyond the reach of air defenses. Its basis is a conventional bomb body of the 250 kg class, onto which a guidance module is fitted at the front and a module with a booster motor and control surfaces at the rear. It is the motor that sets the AASM apart from ordinary glide weapons: it allows release even from low altitude and markedly extends the reach. The weapon carries the designation Hammer for export and has become standard equipment of Rafale machines and upgraded Mirage 2000s.

Building recommendation

Munitions of this type have a markedly detailed surface, so it pays to paint them separately from the aircraft and to hang them on at the very end. The forward guidance section and the rear module tend to be in a different shade from the body, which is worth careful masking. Do not varnish over the crisp edges of the control surfaces, or they will disappear under a coat of paint.
