A pair of training replicas of the B43 nuclear bomb in the zero version for large aircraft models in 1:32, two pieces in the package.
Responsibility details are not available.
The B43 family was among the most widespread tactical nuclear weapons of the American inventory of the Cold War. It came about at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s and stayed in service until the end of that era. A cigar shape with a slender tip and a cylindrical tail module made it possible to hang it under the wing of a fighter-bomber and in the bomb bay of a heavy machine alike. Part of the tail section was a braking parachute, thanks to which an aircraft could drop the load from low altitude and manage to leave the area before the weapon took effect.
The figure after the dash in the name sets the individual versions of the range apart, and they differ from one another in the arrangement of the tail module and the arming mechanism. The modeler therefore gets exactly the form that belongs to the chosen machine and period, without having to cut anything.
Contents: two pieces, as follows from the designation, which matches symmetrical stores under the fuselage or under the inner stations.
A note on color: weapons of this kind were finished light, most often in white or gray-white, so that they would reflect thermal radiation. A white area in a large scale mercilessly shows every unevenness, so it pays to smooth the surface carefully before finishing.
The Cold War context: aircraft with this armament stood ready at airfields in Europe and on the decks of ships, and their crews had a practiced maneuver with which they moved away from the point of impact immediately after release. A model with stores like that therefore does not tell a story of combat but of decades of waiting that never turned into live use.
Assembly: sand the joints of the tail module lightly after gluing, so that no seam is visible.
