A set of two Exocet missiles for large models in 1:32. It is intended for machines of the Sea King, Super Etendard, Mirage 2000, Rafale and Mirage F.1 types, that is for French combat aircraft and for a naval helicopter in the armament of several navies.

The real subject

The Exocet is a French anti-ship guided missile. In the air-launched form it is hung under the fuselage or under the wing of the carrier; after release it drops low over the water and flies to the target just above the surface, so it appears on the screens of a ship radar late. It was precisely this missile that turned several otherwise unremarkable machines into feared carriers, and on a large-scale model it is a conspicuous piece of armament that is worth doing carefully.

Building and painting

• The parts are not made of polystyrene and are joined with cyanoacrylate glue; polystyrene cement has no effect on them.
• Wash them in water with a little detergent before painting and let them dry, so that the paint holds.
• Cut excess material and traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the surface down.
• Watch the long slender body from a distance while gluing: the missile has to hang parallel with the long axis of the aircraft, otherwise a crooked mounting draws more attention than the model itself.
• The way of attachment and the color finish differ between individual carriers, so follow the references for the chosen machine and the instructions of the manufacturer.
