The Junkers Ju 88A-1 is the first production bomber version of the German twin-engine aircraft, which in the Second World War was one of the most widely used machines of the Luftwaffe. The crew sat together in the glazed forward cockpit, so the inside is visible on the finished model from several directions at once. In the large 1:32 scale that is doubly true, and an empty or only roughly painted cockpit shows at first glance.
The set brings colored three-dimensional interior elements printed on decal paper. Their surface carries real relief, so the instrument panels, the side walls and the seats gain a depth that flat printing cannot achieve. The elements have no adhesive layer of their own: the part is cut from the sheet, dipped in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slid off the paper into place. A decal softener or a decal fixer does not belong with them, as the chemicals would attack the printed resin.
Spray the surfaces under the decals with a base color, let them dry thoroughly and coat them with a gloss clear such as Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22; the elements hold best on gloss. Cut the individual parts out with a sharp blade, put them in lukewarm water for fifteen seconds and slide them off the paper into place. Blot off the excess water with a cotton swab and, on complex walls, help the element with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue. Plan the work so that the interior is finished before you close the fuselage halves.
The set is for modelers who are building the large Ju 88A-1 model from Revell and want a cockpit that reads well without lengthy painting of small details. It will also serve anyone who does not yet feel up to painting instruments. There are only decals in the package; the model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
