A bag of ten plastic ABS strips with a section of 0.75 x 5.00 mm and a length of 350 mm. It is material for building your own parts, for conversions and for repairs, not a finished part: you cut the strip to the length you need and use it wherever a straight edge, a stiffener or a batten is called for. The section is rectangular, so the strip sits flat on the base as well as on edge as a rib.
The strip is divided with a sharp knife: draw the blade several times along the same score and snap the material, then level the cut with a file or fine abrasive paper. ABS is tougher and less brittle than ordinary modeling polystyrene, so it takes mild bending and sanding to shape. When bending, count on the plastic springing partly back and secure the shape with a glued joint instead. Try the glue on an offcut, because liquid cements for plastic react to ABS differently from brand to brand, while super glue holds reliably. Degrease the surface before painting and apply a surfacer or a primer, otherwise the paint grips smooth plastic poorly.
For modelers who add missing details and build their own parts, for builders of dioramas and models of buildings, for railway modelers and for figure painters who need a precise straight edge. It serves just as well for repairing damaged parts and for making simple jigs, templates and spacers. The length of 350 mm means that even a longer straight element comes out of one piece without joining.
