Replacement wheels for the Mirage III in 1:32 scale

In the large 1:32 scale the wheels are looked at from close up, and the plastic parts from the kit often give away soft shapes or traces of production on them. This set is a ready-made replacement that only needs cleaning, painting and fitting to the landing gear legs. It is for the two-seat IIID version and for the IIIE, IIIR and IIIS versions.

The real subject

The Mirage III is a French supersonic combat aircraft with a delta wing and no horizontal tail surfaces, a shape that became the hallmark of the whole family. The versions differ from one another in role: the IIID is a two-seat trainer, the IIIE a fighter and ground-attack machine, the IIIR a reconnaissance version with a modified nose, and the IIIS was delivered to Switzerland. The landing gear is of the nosewheel type, the main wheels retract into the fuselage and they stay clearly visible on the model.

Building and painting tips

• the parts are not polystyrene, they are glued with super glue
• cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and carefully sand the remainder
• wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly
• separate the rim and the tire with a mask or with careful brushwork, as the transition shows on the model
• fit the wheels only at the end of the build so that they do not suffer during further handling

Only the wheel set is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The number of parts and the preparation procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
