A set of wing pylons with MAU-12 bomb racks for the Vought A-7 Corsair II in 1:32 scale from Reskit, in the US Air Force form. It is an accessory for a finished kit, not a model of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
An add-on Reskit set for modelers who build the Corsair II in US Air Force service and want their external stores more finely shaped than the parts from the box usually are. The set covers the pylons including the MAU-12 racks and is meant to be fitted to a finished model; on its own it does not form an aircraft.
The A-7 Corsair II is a single-engined subsonic attack aircraft from Vought, created on the basis of the design of the F-8 Crusader. Besides the Navy it was adopted by the US Air Force as well, in the A-7D version, which differed from the carrier machines among other things in its equipment and in the arrangement of its external stores. The MAU-12 rack is the standard American rack used precisely on US Air Force machines, while the naval machines carried racks of a different type. The form of the pylon is therefore not a cosmetic detail but an identifying feature of a particular version, and it is worth choosing it according to the machine you are building.
Before gluing, match the shape of the mating face with the wing of the model and fill any gaps with filler. Separate the parts with a sharp knife or a fine saw, sand the faces and, before painting, degrease them and spray them with a base color. Use cyanoacrylate glue to join them, as ordinary cement for polystyrene will not help here. The pylons are usually painted to match the undersurface of the aircraft, so fit them and spray them together with the model; a small wash and light edge highlighting will then pick out the panel lines and details.
