The plaster elements 1:35 Concrete separation wall elements will build a concrete dividing wall on a diorama, of the kind that protects present-day bases and checkpoints.
Responsibility details are not available.
The castings come from a diorama range of the Italian brand Royal Model that is worked in plaster, not in resin. The material changes things fundamentally: plaster cuts and breaks well and has by itself a porous surface resembling concrete, but it is more brittle and absorbent. The individual segments are set side by side into a continuous line, so you determine the length of the wall according to the scene you are building.
Portable concrete walls spread after 2003 in Iraq and from there onward into the Middle East and Afghanistan. Segments in the shape of an inverted letter T were brought in on a trailer, a crane stood them up in a few hours and they could be moved elsewhere just as quickly. They protected bases from shell splinters, separated roads from buildings and lined checkpoints. In time lettering, numbers, unit signs and paintings appeared on them.
Glue the joints between the segments with PVA, that is vinyl glue. Cyanoacrylate glue soaks into the absorbent surface and the joint stays weak. Before painting, let the elements dry out perfectly and seal the surface with a thin layer of primer, or they will swallow several times as much paint. Broken-out edges look natural and it is enough to create them with a blunt knife, because plaster breaks along its grain by itself.
The elements arrive without paintwork; prepare the adhesive and the paints beforehand.
