This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Tamiya captures the German small half-track vehicle Sd.Kfz.2 Kettenkrad in the mid-production version. Besides the vehicle itself the package contains three soldier figures and a trailer cart for diorama scenes, etched parts for the grille (including a jig for bending them) and assembly tracks. The engine and the gearbox are separate and the engine cover can be built open or closed.
The Kettenkrad (Sd.Kfz.2) was a unique small half-track vehicle combining a steered front wheel as on a motorcycle with a tracked chassis. It came about originally as a light tractor for airborne and mountain units, but it proved itself above all in the difficult terrain of the Eastern Front, where it towed loads, light guns and trailers. Mid production was the most widespread and the longest-produced variant.
Finish and paint the running gear and the engine before closing them up. Bend the etched grille with the enclosed jig and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), and use a liquid model cement on the plastic. Apply a primer before the airbrush. The manual offers two schemes, a yellow one (dunkelgelb) and a three-color camouflage; washes and dust pigments for weathering will stand out at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
