An injection-molded plastic kit of the medium half-track tractor in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter, in its early production version. The package contains parts in gray plastic, individual link tracks, clear parts for the glass and the lamps, a photo-etched sheet and rubber tires for the front wheels. The kit stands out for its well worked-out engine, which forms a complete subassembly in its own right.
The Sd.Kfz.7 was a German medium half-track tractor of about 8 tons capacity, powered by a Maybach engine. It was built from the 1930s in several versions until the end of the war and served above all to tow artillery weapons such as howitzers and anti-aircraft guns, as well as being a general-purpose transport for the crews. It also became a favorite basis for a number of self-propelled anti-aircraft mounts. The early version corresponds to machines from the initial phase of production, before the later manufacturing simplifications.
Finish and paint the engine and the interior of the body before you close up the bodywork, because the well worked-out engine is visible and forms a separate subassembly. The individual link tracks call for patience, but they allow a faithful sag around the return rollers. A primer, an airbrush and thin cement for plastic are the way to go, and glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Bring the color work to life with washes into the recesses and pigments for dust and mud on the running gear and the fenders.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
