An injection-molded plastic model of the German Tiger II heavy tank (Sd.Kfz.182), known as the King Tiger, in the configuration with the early Porsche type of turret. The kit in 1:35 scale is made by Takom; it contains a detailed interior, photo-etched parts and workable track links and offers markings for two options. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Tiger II was the heaviest German tank put into series service in the Second World War. It was powered by a Maybach HL230 engine and its main armament was the long 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 gun with excellent penetrating power. The early machines received a turret with rounded frontal armor from Porsche, which had a narrower commander's cupola and a characteristic rounded shape. Only a limited number of tanks with this turret were built, and they were used from 1944 on the Western and the Eastern Fronts.
On armored vehicles, finish the running gear and the interior before you close the hull, because afterwards you will not reach them. Spray the base over a primer and use thinned modeling paints in the airbrush. Build up the weathering with washes in the recesses and pigments for mud and dust effects on the lower hull and the tracks; dry brushing will accentuate the edges and the worn metal. The open interior is worth building with a cutaway in the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
