A plastic kit of the newest version of the German tank, the Leopard 2A8, in 1:35 scale from Meng. The assembled model is roughly 315 mm long. The kit holds photo-etched parts, offers two color schemes and takes a modern approach to the details.
The Leopard 2A8 is the newest member of the family of the German Leopard 2 main battle tank. It was presented publicly in 2023 as a markedly modernized successor to the 2A7+ version. It is built for the demands of present-day high-intensity combat - it brings new multilayer composite armor, an improved 120 mm L55 smoothbore gun and modernized digital systems. The Leopard 2 is among the most widely used Western tanks and serves in a number of armies.
Even with a modern tank it pays to assemble and paint the running gear and the tracks before you close the hull up. The model provides workable tracks (with double pins, so no gluing is needed) - they can be assembled and painted as a whole. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement, even out the surface with primer and apply the paint with an airbrush. The add-on armor panels on the sides of the turret can be opened on the model. For the current NATO camouflage (black, green and brown) use hard transitions; fine dust and mud on the running gear are completed with pigments and washes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
