An injection-molded plastic kit of the American light tank M24 Chaffee in 1:35 scale from Italeri. The box contains a metal gun barrel, glue-together tracks, color instructions and decals for five marking options. The finished model is about 159 mm long and is a rewarding subject for less experienced builders too.
The M24 Chaffee was an American light tank introduced in 1944, which at the end of the Second World War replaced the aging Stuart. It was agile, reliable and well sprung, with a 75 mm gun and supplementary machine gun armament. Thanks to its low weight and good mobility it proved itself in reconnaissance and infantry support and served long after the war in a number of armies, among them in Korea. It is one of the most accomplished light tanks of its time.
Deal with the running gear and the lower hull before you close the hull up. Glue with liquid cement for plastic, and degrease the metal gun barrel and coat it with metal primer before gluing. Assemble the glue-together tracks patiently and let them dry thoroughly. The M24 usually wore olive paint, with some vehicles in winter white or camouflage - paint with an airbrush, lighten the centers of the panels, then a gloss clear coat, decals and a matte clear coat. For weathering use washes in the engraved lines and pigments, with dust and mud on the running gear. Five marking options give you room to pick an interesting vehicle.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
