A figure of a man arc welding in 1:35 scale. A rewarding element to bring a workshop, depot or building-site scene to life.

A figure of a man at work with an electric welding torch in 1:35 scale. The pose is legible at first glance: a slightly stooped stance, the hand guiding the electrode holder and the head turned away from the weld. It is exactly such a small gesture that gives a scene its action, because a viewer recognizes at once what is going on in it.
It suits both field and rear-area scenes where something is being repaired or built: a repair shop, a railroad depot, the construction of a bridge or a damaged vehicle that has been towed in. It works well paired with another figure who holds a part for the welder or merely looks on. In size it matches the usual kits of military vehicles and construction machinery in 1:35 scale.
Before painting, wash the figure in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let it dry perfectly, because paint does not hold on a greasy surface. A thin coat of primer follows, which reveals the unevenness to be sanded back. Build the skin and the overalls from a darker base toward lighter layers, deepen the folds of the cloth with a glaze and bring out the edges with a dry brush. The light of the welding arc is rewarding: overlight the surfaces turned toward the weld with a cold whitish shade and leave the ones turned away in shadow. Such a contrast suggests the light source without your mounting anything in the scene.
The package contains the figure. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
