Injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary German Tiger I heavy tank in the mid-production version in 1:35 scale from the maker Italeri. The model captures a machine from the later production period of 1943 with the revised turret and commander's cupola. Besides the plastic parts, the package contains photo-etched metal and individual track links; the decal sheet offers markings for several units. Check the exact contents and the schemes against the manufacturer's part number.
The Tiger I Ausf. E was the first German heavy tank to enter service in quantity, armed with the feared 8.8 cm KwK 36 L/56 gun derived from the Flak anti-aircraft gun. Its heavy frontal armor made it an opponent hard to destroy on the Eastern Front and in the West alike. The mid-production version brought a number of manufacturing changes compared with the early machines deployed in North Africa and in the east. It was powered by a twelve-cylinder Maybach engine.
First assemble and test-fit the running gear with its overlapping road wheels, and only then close up the hull. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and the photo-etched pieces with cyanoacrylate glue. Once the base color and the gloss coat under the decals are on, bring out the detail with a wash and add mud and dust effects with pigments for a faithful patina of combat service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
