Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Elefant heavy tank destroyer in 1:35 scale from Dragon. The model captures the massive rear casemate with its long gun, the heavy frontal armor and the characteristic running gear. The kit is made up of plastic parts on sprues, usually with photo-etched parts and a decal sheet added, unless stated otherwise.
The Elefant was a German heavy tank destroyer used from 1943, based on a design by Ferdinand Porsche. It carried an anti-tank gun of 88 mm caliber with a long barrel, which could destroy targets at long range. It first appeared in numbers in the fighting at Kursk; it stood out for its firepower and armor but suffered from great weight and unreliability. Compared with the Ferdinand, the Elefant version was given a machine gun in the front plate and a commander's cupola.
Assemble and dry-fit the running gear and the internal items before you close up the hull. Glue the joints with thin cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with super glue. Lay the base coat over a primer with an airbrush; the broken-up German camouflage and the Zimmerit come out after applying washes and dust or mud pigments, which emphasize the armor plates and the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
