This injection-molded plastic kit from the Polish manufacturer Mistercraft represents the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-4 fighter in fighter squadron markings. It is a simply laid out kit from an older mold, which the Polish maker supplies as a repackaged kit; it holds plastic sprues and decals for several marking options. The model suits builders who do not mind a little clean-up of the parts.
Alongside the Messerschmitt Bf 109, the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was one of the mainstays of the German fighter force in the Second World War. The A-4 version was powered by a BMW 801 radial engine and the aircraft excelled above all at low and medium altitude, where it was an agile and rugged opponent for Allied fighters.
First clean up the parts and glue them with thin plastic cement; with an older mold expect to remove flash and to fill the odd seam. Apply a primer before painting, spray with an airbrush and lay down a gloss varnish before the decals. German fighters invite elaborate camouflage work and accented panels.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
