A detailed plastic kit of the British Sherman VC Firefly tank in its late production form by RYE FIELD MODEL. The kit combines injection-molded plastic with extras that take the result beyond the ordinary standard: workable individual link tracks, photo-etched parts and a more accurate rendering of the gun barrel. The model is built and painted; it is not a finished product.
The Sherman VC Firefly was a British conversion of the American Sherman medium tank, into whose enlarged turret the British fitted the powerful 17-pounder anti-tank gun. Thanks to its high muzzle velocity the Firefly was one of the few Allied tanks that could take on German Tigers and Panthers at ordinary combat ranges. It was committed from the Normandy landings in 1944 to the end of the war in Europe.
Assemble the workable tracks link by link and let them cure well before you fit them. Finish and paint the running gear and the interior before you close up the hull. For faithful weathering, oil washes in the recesses and pigments for mud and dust effects on the running gear work well. Degrease the metal barrel before painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
