1:35 T-30S Soviet Light Tank is a plastic kit of the Soviet light reconnaissance tank from the beginning of the Great Patriotic War in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded kit of a rarely modeled Soviet light tank that stood at the transition between the amphibious T-40 and the wartime T-60. The tooling captures the characteristic low hull with a simple welded turret offset to the left, torsion bar suspension and small road wheels. For collectors of Soviet equipment it is a type you will not overlook in a display case between a T-34 and a KV, precisely because it is so different.
The T-30S came about by simplifying the amphibious reconnaissance tank T-40. Wartime reality showed that the amphibious capability was expensive and used only exceptionally in practice, so it was given up in favor of faster and cheaper production. The main weapon was a 20 mm automatic cannon derived from the aircraft ShVAK, supplemented by a coaxial 7.62 mm DT machine gun. The vehicle was meant for reconnaissance units, but against the armor of medium and heavy tanks it had no chance. The experience from building it fed directly into the mass-produced T-60.
Assemble and finish painting the running gear and the torsion bar suspension before you close up the hull. It is practical to spray the small wheels on a stick and fit them at the very end. The Soviet green 4BO comes out well when you bring it to life with lighter shades on the horizontal surfaces. Wear the sharp edges and the hatches with a dry brush or a pencil. Apply mud and dust with pigments from the bottom upwards; on a light tank the dirtiest parts were usually the fenders and the lower hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
