Injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet T-34/85 medium tank in the model 1944 form from Factory No. 174, with a full interior, in 1:35 scale from AFV Club. Besides the detailed hull and turret, the model contains the complete internal equipment: engine, transmission and the fighting compartment with ammunition and armament. One-piece flexible tracks and a decal sheet are included as well. It is an extensive kit with a large number of parts for more demanding modelers.
The T-34 was the most widely used Soviet medium tank of the Second World War and one of the most influential tanks of all. The T-34/85 version received a larger three-man turret with a powerful 85 mm gun, which greatly improved its firepower against the heavier German tanks. Vehicles from the individual factories differed in details of the turret and hull; this form corresponds to the 1944 production of Factory No. 174. The combination of sloped armor, a reliable diesel engine and wide tracks made the T-34 a difficult opponent.
Build and paint the full interior step by step in subassemblies: finish the engine, the transmission and the fighting compartment before you close the hull and the turret, and you can leave part of the interior on view through open hatches. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and the fine parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Lay down a primer and spray Soviet green with an airbrush; a wash in the recesses, edge highlighting and dust and mud pigments on the running gear will add the weathering.
