This is a turned metal barrel for the American 76 mm M1A2 tank gun, in the version with a muzzle brake, in 1:35 scale from Aber. It is not a vehicle model but an accurate replacement part in place of the plastic barrel. It is intended for models of Sherman M4 series tanks with the M62 gun mount.
The 76 mm M1A2 gun replaced the older 75 mm weapon on the later Shermans and gave the crews markedly better anti-armor performance against German tanks. The version with a muzzle brake damped the recoil and reduced the dust thrown up when firing. The gun appeared on variants such as the M4A1 (76) and the M4A3 (76).
The turned barrel has a faithful bore and muzzle brake shape and needs no drilling. Separate the part from the casting remains, degrease it and bond it with super glue. Prime the metal surface before painting.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
