1:35 upgrade set for the M-50 Sherman is an add-on set from RYE FIELD MODEL made to refine the details of the Israeli Sherman further.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a kit of the tank but an add-on set that the modeler adds to an M-50 model in 1:35 scale already built or under construction. RYE FIELD MODEL releases sets like this alongside its kits, and their purpose is to replace the coarser plastic parts with a finer version.
After the mid-1950s Israel needed to put something more effective against the newer Soviet tanks than its aging Shermans of the Second World War. The answer was a conversion: a French 75mm gun taken from a light tank was fitted into the turret, and it could punch through considerably thicker armor than the original armament. Machines converted this way were designated M-50 and saw combat in Israeli service in the second half of the 1950s and in the 1960s. The early form still kept the original powerplant and suspension, so it is easy to tell apart from the later conversions.
Upgrade sets are fitted during the build, not at the end, so go through the instructions of the base model in advance and note which plastic parts will be replaced. Bend the thin metal components over a ruler or in a bending tool and bond them with super glue, which leaves no marks. Degrease the surface before painting and use a primer, otherwise the paint holds badly on smooth metal.
The tank itself is not in this item; the set serves to complete it.
