Light Sea Blue (FS25200)

The color

A blue shade that the manufacturer lists under the name Light Sea Blue and under the number 25200 of the American standard Federal Standard 595. That standard describes the shades of finishes by a numeric code, so a paint can be compared across manufacturers without having to rely on a verbal description. Judge the exact appearance of the shade by the manufacturer's chart and by the label, as no name will replace a paint. Reckon too with the finish on the real machine having lightened and become dirty with time, so a finished model tends to be more convincing when it strays slightly from the clean shade.

How to apply the paint

The paint belongs to the Orange Line range from Hataka. Use the thinner intended for this range and keep to the manufacturer's instructions on the package for the thinning ratio and the way of applying it; clean brushes and the airbrush with the same thinner. Stir the bottle thoroughly before work, otherwise the pigment stays settled at the bottom and the shade drifts. Apply several thin coats with a pause instead of one heavy one, as that fills the engraving and wipes out the fine surface detail. Wash and degrease the surface of the model beforehand.
