Metal rounds and fired shell casings for the quad 40 mm Bofors gun of the US Navy, 1:35 scale, fifty pieces in all.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package holds two groups of parts of twenty-five pieces each: rounds and fired shell casings, so fifty pieces in all. Both belong to the quad 40 mm Bofors gun, the anti-aircraft weapon that the US Navy carried on practically every larger ship in the Second World War. The parts are metal, which suits munitions well: a small metal piece takes handling with tweezers better than a thin plastic molding, and once painted it looks convincing on a deck.
Metal has a smooth surface on which paint does not hold well by itself. Degrease the parts before painting, therefore, and use a primer intended for metal surfaces; only then comes the metallic shade and finally a light dirtying. Cement for plastic models has no effect on metal, so make the joints with superglue or with two-part epoxy. The rounds belong in the clips and in the ready racks by the gun, while the fired casings suit the deck loose around the mount, where they stayed scattered after firing. It is precisely that mess that makes a scene come alive.
For builders of ship dioramas and deck scenes in 1:35 scale who want to show the crew at work by the gun, and for anyone whose model lacks the small things around the weapon.
The model of the gun, figures, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
