The ZiL-157 is a Soviet three-axle all-wheel-drive off-road truck. It served as the chassis for a whole range of bodies, so a modeler meets it in many forms, and the word family in the designation refers to exactly that breadth of variants. The cab is plain, but on a model in 1:35 scale you can see well inside through the open doors and windows.
The set carries colored three-dimensional elements of the cab interior: the instrument panel with its dials, the door cards, the seats and other fittings. The elements have real thickness, so they do not look like a mere print, and the colors and lettering are printed at the factory. The set is prepared for the kit from Trumpeter.
The elements are applied like a decal: cut the part out, dip it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the backing decal paper into place. It has no adhesive layer of its own, so clean the surface, sand away the original molded detail and coat the area with gloss varnish. Do not use a decal softener; on an uneven spot a drop of super glue helps. Work before you close the cab up, because after that you will not get inside.
The set suits modelers who build Soviet trucks and want the cab finished quickly and without painting tiny instruments. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
