Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the German Type IXC long-range submarine in 1:350 scale. The box contains a two-part full hull, the conning tower with periscopes and a platform, the deck gun, a small stand and photo-etched parts (railings, the anchor, ladders, propeller blades and other fine detail). This version carries the experimental installation of a rocket launcher on deck, one of the less common chapters in the development of submarine armament.
Type IXC submarines were large long-range ocean-going boats intended for operations far from their home bases. U-511 was used among other things in trials of deck-launched rockets and was later handed over to the Japanese ally, with whom she served until the end of the war. The long hull, the great radius of action and the heavy anti-aircraft armament of the conning tower are characteristic.
Line the halves of the hull up and sand the joints carefully, so that they disappear on the rounded surface. Bend the photo-etched railings over a metal edge and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. A smooth submarine hull suits a primer, uniform gray shades with an airbrush and a fine wash to bring out the hatches and the free-flooding vents. Paint the rockets and the conning tower armament separately before the final assembly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
