A large injection-molded plastic kit of the American aircraft carrier USS Essex (CV-9) in 1:350 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter, capturing the ship in her 1943 configuration. The model allows a build with the full hull as well as a waterline version, and it contains the flight deck and the hangar deck, a number of carrier aircraft and a stand for display.
USS Essex (CV-9) was the lead ship of the class of aircraft carriers named after her, which formed the backbone of the American navy in the Pacific during the Second World War. She carried a large carrier air wing and took part in a number of operations against Japanese targets. The 1943 form matches her early combat service.
Decide in advance between the full hull and a waterline build. We recommend working in sections of decks and superstructures, and gluing the fine parts and any railings with super glue. Spray the hull and the decks with an airbrush and bring the deck out with a wash and a dry brush. The small carrier aircraft are practical to paint while they are still on the sprues.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
