A replacement ACES II ejection seat for a model of the A-10A attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. It replaces the simplified seat from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The ACES II seat established itself in the US Air Force as a common solution for a whole range of types, and the A-10A is one of them. It is an ejection seat able to save the pilot even at zero speed and zero altitude, that is on an aircraft standing still. Its hallmarks are the tall, bulky headrest, the harness running over the shoulders and across the lap, and the survival equipment stowed under the seat pan and behind the pilot's back.
The cockpit of the A-10A is covered by a bulged canopy and can be seen into from both sides and from above, so the seat is among the most closely watched places on a finished model. According to the name this is one seat in 1:48 scale, that is a replacement for the simplified part from the kit.
Wash and degrease the part before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on the smooth surface. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand off what is left, so that the mating face stays flat. Try the seat dry in the cockpit before you close it up. Choose the glue according to the material of the part; the manufacturer's instructions give the exact procedure. When painting it helps to separate the upholstery, the harness and the metal structure by shade and to finish with the small stencils and handles.
For builders of modern American aircraft in 1:48 scale who want convincing detail in an open cockpit. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
