Propellers, engines and cowlings for the B-24 Liberator in 1:48 scale from Reskit. A 3D-printed set with closed engine bays, not a model of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an add-on set, not a model of an aircraft. It holds four engine units with closed engine bays and two types of propeller, from which the modeler chooses according to the subject. On a four-engined bomber the cowlings are the most prominent feature along the whole outline of the wing, and this is exactly where injection molding runs into its limits: the leading edge of the cowling has to be thin, the finning of the radial engine fine and the propeller blades have to carry the correct airfoil, which twists along their length. 3D printing manages all of this at once.
The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was an American four-engined bomber with a high-set wing of great slender aspect ratio. It was powered by four air-cooled radial engines in cylindrical cowlings, whose unusual oval shape is among the most easily recognized features of the type.
The set is for modelers who are building the B-24 in a large scale and want engine nacelles that match the real thing. The work is not complicated; it only calls for patience in removing the supports and for exact seating of the four nacelles.
It is not a model of an aircraft. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
