About product

Britten-Norman BN-2A Islander (Israeli Air Force), 1:48 (Valom)

This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Valom captures the light multi-purpose twin-engined Britten-Norman BN-2A Islander in the version operated by the Israeli Air Force. It is a completely new mold; the box holds plastic sprues, photo-etched parts for the fine details and decals for several marking options.

The real subject

The Britten-Norman Islander is a British light twin-engined aircraft that first flew in 1965. Thanks to its simple construction, short takeoff and landing and low operating costs it became one of the most widespread small transport and liaison aircraft in the world. Besides civil operation it serves a number of armed forces for patrol, liaison and transport.

Building and painting tips

The cabin glazing is extensive, so masking the windows and clean gluing of the clear parts pay off. Finish the interior before you close the fuselage up. Glue the photo-etched parts with CA glue. Spray the base on with an airbrush, lay the decals on gloss varnish and matte the model down only at the end.

Who the model is for

  • Anyone interested in light multi-purpose and liaison aircraft
  • Collectors of Israeli aviation
  • Modelers who appreciate fine photo-etched parts
  • Builders with experience of glazed cabins

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
