This item is not a model of an aircraft but an accurate resin (3D-printed) replacement for the wheels of plastic F4D-1 Skyray models in 1:48 scale. It replaces the factory wheels with more faithfully shaped tires and finely rendered hubs. The Type 2 designation distinguishes a particular tire pattern from the Type 1 variant — choose according to the pattern that matches your subject.
The tires are cast with a loaded, slightly flattened contact patch that imitates the weight of a machine standing on them, and with finely rendered tread patterns and lettering on the sidewalls. The wheel hubs have sharp details that are hard to reproduce in injection-molded plastic.
First wash the parts free of residues of mold release agent, carefully cut the casting blocks off and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Do the sanding with respiratory protection. Before painting we recommend a primer; it holds better on resin.
This is an accessory for a build, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
