This resin set from the Ukrainian manufacturer Reskit replaces the landing gear wheels on a model of the F-8 Crusader carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. The type 1 designation distinguishes one of the wheel forms, as they changed during the aircraft's production. It is an aftermarket accessory, that is parts fitted in place of the ones from the kit; a model of the aircraft is not part of the package. Wheels are the detail a viewer gets closest to at a display case, so replacing them is among the most effective small improvements to a model.
The Vought F-8 Crusader is an American single-seat supersonic carrier fighter with a characteristic high-mounted wing whose incidence could be raised for landing on a deck, increasing the angle of attack without raising the nose. It entered service in the late 1950s, served with the US Navy and the Marine Corps, and was heavily armed with guns and guided missiles. The machines also served in other countries, and in reconnaissance form they stayed in service long after the fighter versions were retired.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove any mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the mating surface, protecting your airways as you do. They are glued with cyanoacrylate, that is super glue. The hub and the tire have different shades, so paint them separately or help yourself with masking at the boundary. On carrier aircraft it also suits to suggest slight soiling and traces of braking, but sparingly, so that the model does not look neglected.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is an accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
