A detail resin set of wheels for models of the Northrop F-89 Scorpion jet night fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory that replaces the wheels from the box with more faithful castings with a fine tire tread and separate rims. The wheels are usually cast with the flattening caused by the weight of the machine, for a realistic stance on the runway.
The wheels are among the most visible parts of the landing gear and a faithful rendering of them markedly raises the impression a finished model makes. A resin casting offers a crisper tread profile and hub details that injection-molded plastic cannot reach, and the separate rims make painting easier.
Wash the parts to remove the mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and clean them up. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and wear respiratory protection while sanding. The tires will appreciate a flat black-gray with dust weathering, and the rims a color distinction according to the real subject.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin accessory. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
