This product is a set of photo-etched metal grilles in 1:48 scale for a model of the German Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger heavy tank destroyer. It is not a stand-alone vehicle kit but an accessory that replaces the coarsely molded plastic grilles over the engine compartment with fine metal mesh. The manufacturer is the Polish brand Aber.
The Jagdtiger was the heaviest series-produced German tank destroyer of the Second World War, built on the chassis of the Tiger II tank and armed with a massive 12.8 cm gun. Its massive hull with the prominent ventilation grilles on the engine deck is a rewarding subject for modelers.
The real protective grilles over the cooling and ventilation openings were thin and see-through, which plastic cannot imitate faithfully. Photo-etched grilles improve this detail markedly. The parts are cut out of the fret, shaped slightly if need be and bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a base coat.
This is a photo-etched accessory, not a vehicle model. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
