Metal Hispano Mk.V cannon barrel tips for models of the Hawker Tempest Mk.II, Mk.V and Mk.VI and the Hawker Fury and Sea Fury in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Tempest and, after it, the Fury and Sea Fury were among the last British piston-engine fighters. Their armament consisted of 20 mm Hispano cannons housed in the wing. The Mk.V version was shorter and lighter than the older cannons, so only a short piece of barrel protrudes from the wing leading edge. It is exactly this small difference in length and in the shape of the muzzle that sets the late machines apart from the earlier ones, and it is clearly visible on a model.
The set brings metal Hispano Mk.V cannon barrel tips in 1:48 scale for the types named. Compared with the part from the kit, the metal piece has a thin wall and a genuinely open muzzle that you can see into, it stays straight and it does not bend or snap off easily when the model is handled.
Carefully widen the hole in the leading edge with a drill to the diameter of the shank and fit the part dry first. Check from the front and from above that the barrels protrude equally far and run parallel, because asymmetry is what shows most on a finished model. Bond with a small amount of super glue. Degrease the metal before painting and give it a primer coat, or the paint will not hold on it. Fit the tips only once the wing has been painted.
The aircraft model, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
