A pair of Martin-Baker seats in the Type 9B Mk.3 form in 1:48 scale for the two-seat Jaguar. The castings capture the shape after the cockpits were upgraded. Made for the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two resin Martin-Baker ejection seats in the later Type 9B Mk.3 form, made for the front and the rear cockpit of the training version of the Jaguar in 1:48 scale. The accessory is aimed at modelers for whom the rough outline of a seat in plastic is not enough. The target kit is the Airfix one.
British Jaguars went through a modification in the 1980s after which the pilot's parachute and the drogue chutes moved into a newly shaped box above the pilot's head. The seat thereby gained a different outline at the back, which is clearly visible on a model with an open cockpit. The machines carried this form until the end of their service, so it suits late finishes. If you are building an earlier form, reach for the variant in the Mk.2 form.
Free the resin of release agent in a warm bath with dish soap before work. Remove the casting blocks with a saw, not with cutters, and level the cut. Use super glue for the joint, with an activator if you like, and the joint then holds practically at once. The cockpit looks best when the seats are sprayed matte and the edges picked out with a drybrush in a lighter tone.
It is supplied as a resin accessory, not as a model of the whole aircraft.
