Photo-Etched Set Kübelwagen Type 82 1:48 (Aber)

This is a photo-etched detail accessory, not a model. The set contains parts of thin brass sheet intended for models of the German Kübelwagen Type 82 light field car in 1:48 scale. The set adds the fine elements that cannot be faithfully molded in plastic.

What the set is for

The Kübelwagen Type 82 was the standard light field car of the Wehrmacht, the counterpart of the American Jeep. The photo-etched parts replace and add thin-walled elements such as wipers, brackets, clasps, tool mountings and small fittings. Thanks to the real thickness of the material the model looks markedly finer than it would in bare plastic.

Building tips

Cut the parts out of the fret, make the bends over a bending tool or a metal ruler and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the brass before painting and go over it with a primer. Given the small size of the car, tweezers and a steady hand come in useful.
