The German fighter 1:48 Messerschmitt Bf-109 E-4 (Wing Tech) from Dragon is released in a newly engineered aircraft line.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit from Dragon belongs to the Wing Tech aircraft line, which the manufacturer built on a different part breakdown than is usual for aircraft models. The fuselage is molded as a single piece, and the wing is fitted so the joints fall along the panel lines; as a result, the builder spends less time filling and sanding.
The E-4 version, nicknamed Emil, was the main German fighter type during the Battle of Britain in 1940. Compared with earlier aircraft it received a redesigned canopy with flat side panels, stronger pilot protection, and a pair of 20 mm cannons in the wing supplemented by machine guns above the engine. The Daimler-Benz inverted-V engine with direct fuel injection allowed abrupt pushes into negative g, a noticeable advantage in a dogfight against carburetor-equipped opponents.
Finish the cockpit and engine section before closing the airframe. German camouflage schemes of 1940 rely on soft transitions between gray shades and a mottled, wavy pattern on the sides, which a low-pressure airbrush handles best. The yellow quick-recognition markings on the engine cowling and rudder stand out best over a light-colored base coat underneath.
The contents are a set of unassembled parts; painting, gluing, and any accessories are left to the modeler.
