The last production MiG-21

The version that closed the development line received a more powerful engine, an additional tank in the spine and modernized avionics. In its day it was a very agile machine that stayed in service with a number of countries into the 1990s. That is precisely why it is often built today and why a wide choice of accessories exists for it.

What exactly the set solves

The decal imitates the dark rubber seal that seats between the sliding part of the canopy and the frame of the fuselage. The material has a thickness of its own, so once applied it casts a shadow and does not look like a painted line. It does not have to be painted and it dries within a few minutes.

How to choose the right one

The key thing when buying: the canopy frame of this version differs from the older machines, and a separate set therefore applies to those. Nothing but the version inside the box decides, so check first which one you are building. Anyone who builds both needs both sets.

If you also plan to paint the canopy frame through masks, the order is fixed: masking and paint first, and only then the seal. The reverse order means that when the mask is removed it catches the edge of the decal and tears it off.

Among the accessories in this scale, this is one of the few where the ratio of effort to visible result pays off even for someone who builds quickly: the work takes a few minutes and no painting is needed.

One small aid at the end: before you lay the seal in place, trace the outline of the frame with a pencil onto a piece of paper and measure the lengths of the sections on it. An estimate by eye on a curved shape always comes out shorter than the reality.
