A set of replacement wheels in 1:48 scale for a model of the Northrop T-38 Talon trainer aircraft. The tires have the flattening that forms under the weight of a standing machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Northrop T-38 Talon is a slender two-seat jet trainer on which whole generations of pilots went through their training and which stayed in service for an exceptionally long time. Its landing gear is slight and its wheels small, so it is precisely on them that a close look shows whether the model is standing on the ground or merely floating above its base.
Replacement wheels for 1:48 scale with a drawn-out tread pattern and with the sidewall bulged the way the weight of the aircraft compresses it. The wheels are fitted in place of the parts from the kit. The exact number of parts and their breakdown is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down carefully, so as not to cut into the shape of the sidewall. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the coat beads up and flakes off. When gluing them onto the landing gear leg, make sure the flattening points down toward the ground and the axis of the wheel stays horizontal, otherwise the model stands crooked and the whole impression is lost. The tread pattern comes out when you suggest dust and wear with a dry brush over a dark base. Fit the wheels only after the landing gear leg has been painted, as a brush then reaches it far more easily.
The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
