A pair of Soviet large-caliber unguided rockets S-25-O in their launch tubes, 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two resin castings capture the rocket together with its launch tube, that is the way the weapon looks hanging under a wing before takeoff. The set belongs to the armament of Soviet ground-attack and fighter-bomber aircraft.
The S-25 family ranks among the heaviest unguided rockets ever hung under combat aircraft. The rocket was supplied already loaded in a tube, which served as packaging and as a guide at the same time, and the whole assembly was hung on an ordinary pylon. The version marked with the letter O carried a fragmentation warhead aimed at personnel, vehicles and lighter structures. They were carried by the Su-17 and its export variants, the Su-24, the Su-25 and the MiG-27, that is the generation of the 1970s and 1980s. An aircraft carried rockets of such weight only a few at a time and usually launched them from low altitude at short range, where their dispersion did not matter.
The tube tended to be light gray to greenish, with prominent stencils and bands that are well imitated with a thin line in a small scale. The contrast between the smooth surface of the tube and a dirtied landing gear gives a model credibility. Armament that is too clean on an otherwise dusty aircraft looks out of place. Suggest the transition between the face of the tube and its body with a darker shade, so that the edge does not disappear under the paint.
The package includes only the two rockets with their tubes.
