Tiger I Early 1:48 (AFV Club) - an injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary German heavy tank in its early production version.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Pz.Kpfw. VI Tiger I heavy tank in its early production version, in 1:48 scale from AFV Club. The package combines plastic parts with photo-etched extras and, for the smaller scale, offers a decently worked hull and turret. The model builds the early production variant with the features that set it apart from the later batches.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank committed from 1942 on the Eastern and Western Fronts and in North Africa. It was armed with an 88 mm gun derived from an anti-aircraft gun, which could destroy Allied tanks at long range. Heavy frontal armor made it a feared opponent; the price was high weight, demanding maintenance and limited range. The early vehicles had a different road wheel, exhaust arrangement and commander's cupola.
Finish the running gear and the lower hull first, and only then close up the superstructure; with interleaved wheels, patience pays off. Glue the plastic with a thin modeling cement and sand the joints once they have dried. Apply a primer before painting, spray the Dunkelgelb shade with an airbrush and add the camouflage. You create the weathering with dark washes running into the recesses and with pigments for dust and mud effects on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
